My Walmart had a bunch of these on clearance and they have been fairly unreliable for LED bulbs. I've seen 25-30% failure rates in the first week or so. There's a warranty but as with anything is a pain to actually use.

Yeah, I've only had this problem with the GE bulbs, I bought them to replace 5 year old Philips LED bulbs that were starting to dim

+1 on bad GE led bulbs. Picked up a contractor pack of 24 and they have high failure rates within a month. YMMV.

I write the date installed with a sharpie on all bulb replacements since cfl days. I have never found any of these "green" bulbs to last as long as advertized, not even close. I prefer the LED over cfl because you can just trash them when they fail. There were some Target deals on the LED bulbs in the early days, and some even better Walmart deals a few years later that were local electric company subsudised for $1per 4 pack.. I can honestly say none of them have lasted longer than the incandecent bulbs we had at the turn of the century, but I will submit that the lower cost to operate has been a good deal.. I just whish they lasted as long as they said on the packaging..

A led bulb is prone to fail if you use them in closed fixtures. If you use them in something that the base of the bulb is on the bottom they will last longer. You would think the 10 watts they use would not produce enough heat to bother them, but you would be wrong.. More care should be used in choosing where they are going to be used. Bottom down and not in a inclosed fixture is the best for LED. CFL (if you still have them) are not nearly as finicky.. Incandecent (I bought a closet full of 100w incandecents before CFL days) are still the best for some legacy fixtures where you you cant get enough cooling ...

If you want to take advantage of the efficentcy of LED lights, buy a LED fixture (lights built in to the fixture), rather than trying to make a LED work in the old legacy fixtures IMHO... A table lamp is perfectly fine for a LED, but the basement cealing lights that bulbs screw in upside down seem to fail faster in my observations.. The heat needs to be dissapated away from the base. It is not that the LEDs fail it is the power supplys in the base of the bulb that fails. They over heat and that kills the power supply.

Not really because I bought some bulbs on Black Friday a couple years back and they flickered, failed quickly or didn't work at all. Called out an electrician because I was being extra careful and he checked everything and he said they were shit bulbs and that's how they clear out the crap. He grabbed some out of his truck and double check a bunch of stuff because it was covered in the service call anyway. This folks is why you don't listen to random advice on the internet and by all means don't listen to me either.

LED bulbs could fail quicker if installed in a light fixture that does not allow it to cool properly. There are electronics in these bulbs that can overheat unlike other types of bulbs.
