For some reason, the Series 7 scratches easier than any of the other Apple Watches I've owned (1, 2, 4, 6 and 7). Apple store refunded my purchase and the rep said they have had a lot of people complaining of the same thing. Weird as the advertising says it's the most durable. Went back to my 4 in the meantime.

Get AppleCare for this. Hate buying extended warranties but probably worth it here.

The one disadvantage of using a Target redcard is you don't get the extra 1 year of warranty that most credit cards give you.

Also, it is the same price at Amazon for 45MM and only $349 for the 41MM.

This is by design. It's the most shatter-proof but by the same token the increased hardness means it's more scratch-prone. Not a coincidence that AppleCare+ covers shatters but not scratches. They basically optimized their product for their replacement coverage.

Are you speaking specifically of the crystal scratching or the body?

The screen and around the bezel. Every wearable I've owned has never scratched the screen. Regular watches, Fitbits, other Apple Watches. They have all been crystal clear without use of protectors. Not even sure where they came from if I'm being honest. But I Google searched the issue and spoke with the apple Store and the 7's just seem to be more vulnerable to scratching. Never used a protector on any wearable. Gonna ride out with the 4 until holiday time.

Had the original Apple Watch for like 5 years. Not one scratch on it. Got the 6 and not even a month later saw that screen had scratches. Got a screen protector and can't even notice them now. Was annoyed though since I never had any issues with the original one

Not sure if you need 45mm or 41mm but there is post here for stainless steel GPS +Cellular 41mm for $450. I think it is a awesome deal.

These scratches are concerning, as I was considering upgrading from my apple watch 3 to the 7. With my apple watch 3 I have gone mountain biking and slammed the watch face directly onto a sharp rock during a crash and had no scratches or cracks. I'm not so sure the 7 would handle that without some scratches. Looks like i'll have to wait.

I'd get a 6 or wait for 8

What are you taking about....
The harder it is the more scratch resistant it should be, and more likely to shatter.

Look up Mohs scale and get educated
