I'm not team dewalt either. I have a lot of their tools, but I also have milwaukee and makita too. I only bought these because they were on super cheap and they are light years better and more sturdy than the sams club/costco cheap-o stuff I was using.

In terms of use, it's an overpriced death trap full of sharp edges, and some type of magnetic attractant for rust.
The $199 is a good price compared to retail, but it's just not a practical bench. Mainly just for folks that are purely "Team Dewalt" and have every tool that almost never gets used, wall banners, and a lot of black & high vis yellow paint. You know... Like the people that use Facebook and are always posting different pictures of their shop space, on the tool pages, and think they got clout.
Lol... OK. I'm finished.
I have no idea what you're basing your 'hypothesis' on, but I own a garage full of Dewalt shelves and they are ROCK SOLID! I have yet to encounter any sharp edge that cut me at every turn.

I suppose a more ambitious man could cut those rails off at the desired tabletop height, but I am not that man.
Repped!
