The lightning deal in itself is not that slick, however, when I added it to my cart, I saw that the Echo Trade in promotional value of 25% off applied to the full price (the 39.99) instead of the lightning deal price of 22$. This adds an additional $5 savings on to the already reduced price.
So with the 25% trade in credit and lightning deal, my total came down to $12.22 plus tax.
I know this is a YMMV type deal as not everyone will have the trade in credit, but I thought I would share in case anyone did happen to have the credit.
I know many of you should have this credit, however, if you took advantage of the trade in loopholes from Woot (where you buy used echo devices and then trade them in to amazon for a small MM).
