Seems unnecessary for little convenience. Either you'll end up leaving most slots empty or have so many they'll go bad in this before you use them. And you have the added step of removing all your new batteries from packaging to put in here first. Seems better to leave like dated batteries together in their own packaging in a drawer or free box until you need them.

I love this thing. The case alone is cake and the battery tester is icing 🧁

Got it from Costco last month. A lot of people had negative comments on recent threads, but personally I quite like it. Of course I haven't had long term ownership, but so far I haven't had any complaints. Well, maybe one - I wish it had one or two more general compartments for odd size cells and button cells, rather than a bajillion AAA and AA slots. There is only one such compartment for the button cells. I like to keep those odd size batteries in their packaging so they take a bit more space. I don't want to just throw all my button cells in there 'naked' within the same compartment. The number of AA and AAA slots does seem excessive. Most folks won't be filling up all those slots, so there was room. It's just a minor gripe.

Quality of plastic is not the best but it seems sufficient for the application. Just be careful opening and closing the latches. Those seem to be the common point of failure from reviews.

Just got one. Love it. Tester works great. No more searching the junk drawer, everything in one place.

Instead of reading/searching all 40k reviews, you could try reading the product description...

You could fit them in the C cell spaces, but they'll bounce around when moved
