Do you have to buy their controller for this thing to work, or is it free so long as you have Prime?

I was able to connect via USB with an Xbox 360 controller that was immediately recognized and usable on DMC5. The full list of compatible controllers per Amazon is here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/cu...RYMK4WTXSS

I tried Luna with an 8bitdo controller on a Toshiba FireTV and the lag was horrible. Would it be playable on the TV with the Luna controller?

Was your FireTV internet over wireless connection or wired? The lag I've seen with Stadia has been due to playing over wireless. When I play on desktop connected to Ethernet then it goes away. So I don't think it's your controller but likely your internet connection on your FireTV.

When you said "full list," I was expecting like a long list. This is just Xbox One, DS4, and M+KB. That phone controller option is interesting though, never heard of that option before.

How does Luna work? Do I buy games like Stadia or I have to pay monthly + buying games?

Look up "Xoutput Stadia" for a possible workaround on a PC. There's a few ways to emulate Xbox controllers and Xoutput works for me.

Same here. My question is why isn't the Fire Stick Gamepad compatible?

It's subscription based, you can only play the games they offer. Of course you could add channels for an extra fee to get more games. Add all current channels and you're looking at $37 a month.

Alternatively, Geforce Now has a free option which uses the games you already own digitally...the caveat is though, if the games you own are the games they make available.

Edit - Wanted to clarify, the basic difference between free and paid GN service is wait and play time. I've never waited longer than 10 or so minutes for a game to load and play time is capped at 1 hour, though you can log out and in (with wait time again) right away.

I've been using Luna throughout the beta and bought the Luna controller. Works fantastic, the twitch integration is nice too. I did originally just play with my firetv and the phone app remote, it worked fine especially since I'm really not a gamer. But once I found a game or two I liked it made sense to buy the controller as it connects directly.on your wifi to the Luna service. Highly recommend if you're not a serious gamer.

make sure to set the tv input to gaming mode so it doesn't do any video rendering, producing the lag.
