Edit: Just placed an order and it was sent to Doordash.
They automatically choose $3 tip choice (which you can remove) but that's still far too low. Reading online dasher gets $2-3 + Tip for the job. So my order at most would pay $6 for driver (if I tipped $3). Which I can't even afford to tip, my tip is going to be $2.08...
I'm just NOT going to order, I'd have to reasonably tip $15 just to feel comfortable that I'll even get my order (and as a human being). I'm not going to let someone drive 30 mins + use gas for less than $15+ $2 dash fee.
It's beyond ridiculous that the system even allows orders to be accepted when they exceed so many miles & pay so little.
$35 Billion dollar company, and they don't have an algorithm that calculates payment by the mile OR auto-denies orders that are pure insanity to fulfill? I understand cluster delivery or delivering multiple orders, but even then Doordash doesn't bundle orders automatically does it? Nope definitely not.
We have big data, yet completely fail at properly utilizing it. Just an embarrassment.

Just tip $3 bucks, you'll be fine.
I drive doordash
I don't see the tip, only the total amount
The base rate is $2.25. it goes up slightly if it's a longer drive or the order has been rejected by other dashers.
I don't get out of my car for less than $5 bucks
My usual take is $1 per mile
Obviously, I'm not going to drive 16 mi for a $5 order.
Don't worry about the drive back either. Many times I'll just pick up a doordash if it's on the way to where I'm going, like the beach or something. I'm retired btw
