I've been doing my research on dash cameras and to what I've learned is that anything less than 1080p quality and you run the risk of not getting one of the most important features of a dash cam.
Reading license plates clearly was huge to me, and I wanted a rear to go with it for extra peace of mind.
I went with this one for $189, but there are many good choices for less. It was pricey, but I know too many who have been grazed either while parked or while driving and this should point out the other, guilty party most of the time.
I had it hardwired which is another expense, but it has parking mode now so my wife's Genesis is always being watched and ready to record if there's someone that bumps into her car while she's not there. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/thin...Id=6452869
The non GPS accessory version is also on sale for $20 less.
I decided to use an old Pixel 2XL when I want to run a dash cam. Takes great stabilized video and I don't need to run any cords. I just used 3M tape to mount a magnetic mount high up on the windshield of both my vehicles. I'm using the Droid Dashcam app.
I bought a similar mirror camera like this and put it in my daily car. Sometime later I start to have problem with the remote, the car sometime couldn't detect the key fob. It drove me nut for almost a year. I change battery and everything in the key fob. The problem didn't go away until I unplug this camera. I've never heard dashcam interfere with smart key remote before. I move this camera to my none daily car and doesn't seem it have any problem in that car. I plug everything back in for my daily car and that too no longer have any problem.
Just FYI.

Dash cam and mirror cam are two different things. This post is about the digital mirror that replaces the conventional mirror.

$5 in 83835. I've been using their regular 720 dashcam for the same price. It's not for investigative face tracking or archive quality license plate reading; it's to prove who ran into who. That's worth five bucks.
I have one of this type that clips onto existing rearview mirror (different brand) & is quite heavy. It's added weight made the mirror/cam combo pealed from the windshield. Tried using expoxy which held on for a few days.
Anyone know what else to use to get the mirror with such cam to stick permanently to windshield?

Good idea - when my 2XL that I got on a deal last year gets older I'll do the same thing. Thanks!

Oh, my mistake I just assumed it was the same thing. My comment was meant to be just an opinion as to the likely quality of this kind of thing for $14. I would assume the buyer would like a "mirror cam" to capture decent imagery.

No need to apologize, this isn't a digital mirror it is a dash cam that is integrated into a rear view mirror. The camera is located in the front of the mirror assembly and the screen shows the front camera.
