no AC output = no aluminum welding if it matters to you
Good price, BTW no tig torch. It's $360 after coupon on AMZ. Come back and let us know how it works for you.Tig torch is only $50 on Yeswelder and AMZ, This machine should work well on mild steel and maybe stainless. Not for aluminum. It requires separate gases for MIG and TIG, but not for fluxcore. A welder friend swears by his Yeswelder auto darkening large view helmet.

I don't own one. Seems a candidate for only MIG and Stick weld.
reason: no TIG control pedal possible, and you must purchase TIG torch and cable hose setup separately.

here is a nice review: https://weldguru.com/yeswelder-mig-205ds-review/

Mostly interested in stick welding, have to build a bunch of garden tables out of channel, angle, and expanded metal. Is this an overkill?

Just for stick welding look for a used Lincoln buzz box on facebook or cragslist.

I've liked mine the year and a half I've owned it.
People who haven't used one will soon be chiming in saying you MUST buy a blue one or red one for more money.

I'm really liking the beads the Yeswelder puts down. Only done MIG and Stick with it. Have the stuff for TIG but haven't used it yet that way.
The helmet is pretty nice, but hate how the headgear fits. It's made to accommodate a pony tail, but fits poorly for those of us who don't sport one.

MIG30 seems to work for this welder only - am I correct? I tired on a welder a step above this and it gave me an error.

I have harbor freight's little dc unit stick welder. works fine and I paid like $120 (years ago), but check duty cycle for your projects.

Maybe. You can get away with stick if it doesn't have to be a pretty job, but for my money I'd want MIG. You'll get a prettier weld with less post work for the same effort, but you'll pay for it in the welder and gas. Right now the cheapest gas+tank around me is still over $300 (Airgas wants $320 for an 80cf tank of C25, $365 for 125cf), and you'll need a flowmeter, which is $25 for a cheapo form Amazon, $50 from HF or $100-$150 from a welding supplier.

If bottom dollar for setup is your plan, and you are going to grind the welds anyway, you can pick up a cheap stick that will do the job for <$150 and go buy 7018 rod in bulk (I find all the 60xx rod to be messy; just keep your electrodes dry).
