Any knife that advertises being "dishwasher safe" is admitting that it's a cheap POS and that no one should care about keeping it sharp (and there's nothing wrong with that! Just know what to expect!)

I got surprised with a basic Zwilling J.A. Henckels Pro set for Christmas years ago thanks to a good sale. Definitely wouldn't recommend anything less.
Most people aren't that careful about how the insert/remove the knife into the block. Running the edge down the block every time wears it. I understand the logic. Most people at home aren't that great with a knife that keeping one razor sharp really matters. My personal caviot with modern blocks is the "built in self-sharpener" every use takes metal off the knife. All it does is wear out the knife so you have to buy a new one sooner.
Yea I don't know about that..
We're talking about BARELY any pressure here when sliding the knife in and out of the block lol.
Not saying that it doesn't dull it.. But the amount it gets dull, is so miniscule. It's literally just 2 extra slices that one would do anyways when cutting practically anything 🤣.
Lol oh well, guess I'm just not a knife block connoisseur.
But as for those self sharpening knife blocks, yea sounds a bit alarming.

Also Amazon's automated price adjustment algorithm seems to be set at a very sensitive level on them. Once the sales volume at low price exceeds the threshold, the price would be more than doubled. Do your research and decide if they are right for you in advance. Once the price comes down, don't hesitate.

No, I'm saying you should never wash knives in the dishwasher. Though to be clearer, it would be "sharp knives". The heat in the dishwasher destroys the edges of blades when with just a single time through
