So in this weird economy, sometimes a deal is just "they haven't gotten around to jacking up the price on this yet." This is one of those deals. Refrigerant prices have skyrocketed in recent months, and with summer approaching I suspect it's going to be a long hot one.
If you need r134a, Walmart (at least in my area) still has it for $4.88 for a 12oz can. This could be YMMV, but it's this price and in stock in all of the stores around me. This was an OK deal last summer, but I could buy a 12 pack for $39.98 + shipping at Sam's, which was even better. That same 12 pack now costs $99.98 + shipping. I'm seeing prices ranging from $7.50ish at AutoZone to over $11 per can at other places.
I found this link that works for stores in my area, when using Walmart's internal search feature won't.

Wish I could still get for less than $5 a can.

The CSR at the self checkouts was happy to override down to the 5.37 price.
Bought a can of this Walmart brand .before and went home,
i have done many refills over 2 decades nevertheless i usually reread the instructions to do a re fill. Looked on the back of the Walmart brand, the instructions were all blurred.
Then, when i went to use, maybe 1/8 th of the can's refrigerant came out and the can plugged up.
Returned the can. Money back. The 1/8th got me thu the rest of the summer so got something for my time and energy and aggravation.
