That is a good deal on a great radar detector. I have the R1 (same as this without gps) and I love it. It'll take you some time to set it up how you want it but once you get there it's great.

you can usually find the R1 (lower than this one) for around $200

you can usually find the R7 (better than this one) for $350

edit: corrected the R7 to $350. when I just did a search here I found that they used to come down to $350 and not $300.

We should start seeing more deals like this, now that the newer R4 is out and the r3 gets discounted and phased out. FYI from initial reviews, the R4 has a new chipset and has even better (forward) range than the R7. I have lived with my dfr8 for quite some time now and went ahead and pulled the trigger on the r3 because I am stoked about finally having GPS lockout and for the price of the R3, I will be more than satisfied for another few years.

You can dream….meanwhile the one I purchased for $475 has saved me countless times. To me, it's worth every penny.

Don't doubt it. I actually bought an R3 a few months ago due to the R7 not coming down in price and having never having had arrows was willing to live without them at that price.

I was implying usually find would mean in the recent weeks ro even months. The chip shortage isn't letting up yet and the R3 sale is more likely due to the R4 release than a production upturn. R8 is coming out later this year so the R7 may see the same trend but it's not been usually available for less than $499 for quite a while.
