Well first off you need to decide which screen size you want. Bigger is generally better for using, but worse for carrying. If you plan to using it mostly at home, 15.6 is a good compromise. If you travel a lot or take it back and forth to work or school, it will get a little heavy.

The 5700U has more cores and better GPU, so if you do heavy work using all cores, or want to do light gaming, it will be better than the i5 in the cheaper model.

Edit: Also note that the cheaper one is an Envy model, which is considered higher end than the Pavillion model. There may be some minor quality differences in the build/body, etc,

Do you think the i7 version is worth the extra $80 over the Ryzen? I don't do gaming, and don't plan on taking the laptop anywhere. I prefer the 15.6 inch size.

They also have this one on sale for $850, with 1TB SSD and Windows 11 Professional.

According to HP specs:
https://support.hp.com/rs-en/document/c08049129

The Envy 13.3" has a brighter 400 nits screen vs 250 nits screen on the Pavilion 15.6". So the Envy should be easier to see outdoors.

This has been asked before, but I can't seem to find it looking at older posts . . . but does using my Costco credit card give me additional warranty on this laptop?

If not, does anyone recommend the added warranty you can purchase? (Typically i decline these, but I'm cautious of the hinges and cracking screen as it will be used extensively as a portable).

Thanks.

If this has a 400 nit screen this is a pretty slick deal.

Most of these touch screen laptops in this price range either have 8 gigs of ram, 256gb of ssd, or a 250nit screen.

16 gigs...an 11 series intel...512gb nvme...400 nits. I'ma go check it out at the warehouse now!

I assume the intel integrated graphics should be good enough to play a game like lost ark/FFXIV on low settings, right?

Costco's Citi Visa provides two additional years of coverage for most products that come with a manufacturer's warranty with a few exceptions (e.g. I've been informed refurbished items do not qualify), regardless of whether or not they were bought at Costco. Costco itself provides a free second year of warranty.

See Citi's site [citi.com] regarding this for more info. Note that the Citi warranty may involve a few more hoops to jump through than an OEM warranty (e.g. seeking repair cost estimates, etc.) and can take a few weeks for reimbursement albeit it's pretty useful for a "free" benefit.

Seems to good to be true if this really has a 400 nit screen at this price. I'll have to check out my local Costco and take a look.

Any thoughts comparing this laptop with the Dell Inspiron 13.3 being sold by Costco also for $600 a month or so ago?

https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/fp/695464

Bought the Costco one, but haven't opened it and not sure if this would be better. Appreciate any insights into the differences between the two and why one might be better than another.

Thanks in advance!

I would like to know this also. Missed out on the Dell and been waiting for it to go on sale again. My friend bought the Dell and loves it.
