Going through the reviews and it seems the base is just that slab of glass with nothing to reinforce it.

Seems one reviewer may have tried to pick up and move the stand without holding the glass base and it broke off by its own weight.

You gotta be weary with tempered glass nowadays. Due to manufacturing flaws, the're a chance that it might explode for no reason at all

Second this stand is missing a part .... there're should be a metal plate that reinforces the contact area of the stem.

I just bought one exactly like this two days go ago for a 43' Samsung for 25.00. Works well glass base is pretty thick; I would by again.

I have had a 55" on a similar one for 4 years now. You ever try to break tempered glass! I have had hammer bounce off! I would stick with under a 43" TV tempered glass or not in all honesty it made me go hmmmm when I first used it!

I have had one for years with several TV'S on it. Never had an issue ever and have moved it I don't know how many times. There will always be that person that can break anything LOL. Currently have a 55" Q80A on it which is 40lbs!!! As far as the weight rating I never go with that. Go with at least half the weight ratings not 88lbs! This is good for modern day 30-43" TV which are very light compared to the ones from 7-9 years ago. An ru7100 43" only weights! 21lbs. But using glass did make me weary at first LOL. So I would stick with smaller TV's. I bought two more because I just got two open box 43" 4K Samsungs for my PC.
