I drive a loud hot rod sometimes. I use my R7 radar detector so I know when to keep it quiet as I've been pulled over more for exhaust than speed.

I would get the R7. I have an R3 but switched to an R7 in my daily driver. I put the R3 in my wife's car. After a few times of driving hers I upgraded it to the R7 because once you have the arrows and auto lock outs you don't want to mess with the R3 anymore. My R3 has been in a draw for about a year now.

Amazing detector. I have been wanting to get a second for my other car. Very happy with this radar detector. Highly rated. I paid $399 in 10/2018. Good deal despite being out for a while now.

Who has actually had this and the r7 or knows first hand enough to be able to compare? I have an r7 and I like it, it's super sensitive but is it worth getting the r7? I see so many great reviews about the R3?

Good move. No arrows like the R7 but the detection is a amazing. Keep the firmware updated and check out settings from vortex radar.

Awesome deal. For those wondering about the R7 vs this, the arrows are super useful on the 7. Really helps as the range on these are far.

As an fyi there is an R8 coming out soon which is supposedly the best ever tested .

The reason I bought it was to have a cheap bridge to the R8 tentatively scheduled to be available April 2022. I'm sure it will go for the full retail price for the first few months. Maybe by black Friday? Right now the R3 is going used for $220 to $240 on ebay.
