The current margin on the major bike shop brands is roughly 30%.

That means that for a $500 retail bike, the shop paid $350. Plus, recently they've had to pay $50 shipping for each bike, a charge which used to be waived for large orders but not anymore. After assembly, any ongoing free maintenance and customer service, they would be losing money if they gave a 20% discount and sold that bike for $400.

And that's not even including all the expenses to keep the doors open, like rent, salaries, insurance, utilities, advertising, etc.
Bicycles are pretty low margin (and getting worse) and have lots of related expense and labor. No legit retailer can afford to cut the price 20%.
The benefit and sweet spot, IMO, of the annual member 20% off coupons is looking for a piece of gear that has a solid MSRP (all the way across the board no matter where you look), and snagging it for 20% off at REI. There are restriction uses on the coupon, however you can find some incredible deals when this comes around. Well worth the cost of membership.

"any item with GPS technology"...has this always been excluded? Did I miss my opportunity to buy a Garmin 530 at a discount while using my dividend?
No. I bought my Wahoo ELEMNT Bolt using a 20% member code a few years ago

Thanks. Forgot about Moosejaw, but now see they don't carry Patagonia anymore!
They don't carry Patagonia because Patagonia refuses to work with WalMart, who now owns Moosejaw.

Grabbed a Weber Q1200. Perfect for car camping or for a beach day. I've been hoping to use a coupon on a cargo box but they've been excluded from the last several coupons.

Top tier brand. Fits me way better than the big belly Patagonia stuff. They do go on sale sometimes, but I usually are Arcteryx go on sale everywhere at the same time at similar discounts.

These wide Arc' sales are going to be a thing of the past very soon; Arc' is now moving to a direct-to-consumer model - and will funnel nearly all their sales to their websites (regular and outlet) and only a handful of retailers (REI being one of them); they're already no longer available on backcountry, moosejaw, etc... these aggressive sales are going to be hard to come by... there are, however, a number of online merchants out there that still have some limited inventory... (e.g. sun and ski, evo, moontrail, etc...).

If someone is interested in the hammock stand, I bought the portable Ozark Walmart version which is $65 two years ago. It is steel (weight is good for an item like this) and not as nice looking (for camping purposes that shouldn't be a biggie) but much more cheaper. Hope that helps - here is the link:

Ozark Trail 128" Portable Steel Hammock Stand, Grey Color https://www.walmart.com/ip/446714067
There have been more than a couple of times I wished I had a hammock. I would be concerned about fat asses and the weight capacity. Seems like everything is 250 lbs
weight capacity nowadays. I hate to ride a fine line with my butt floating in the air.
Food for thought though!

For anyone else reading this and interested in the Garmin Varia, it tends to go on sale here and there on Amazon. I got it for $101 Fall 2020. The bundle with the headlight (both of which I have and have been amazing purchases) go on sale for $159.

Slickdeal search you can find many sales on it FYI
I did a search, but was not able to find a price that low for the RTL515.

I have seen the RTL515 go for $159.99 as recent as last year though.

Maybe you're referring to the RVR315 without the taillight?
