The last time they were at this price the ones I received were so stale (and impossible to chew) that I couldn't eat any of them. Seems like it's hit or miss according to the recent reviews. (and the best buy date was months away, so it wasn't like they were old, just stale from the jump I guess)

I received a box 2 weeks ago. They shipped it together with other heavy items, so the top was cracked and the candy super hard. Who knows how long it's been opened.

Microwave them for 10 seconds before you eat them and they'll get soft enough even for grandma!

Welcome to American "licorice". The big brands contain no licorice root at all, even the black "licorice". It has been that way forever.

Upside: Won't give you high blood pressure or even kill you if you eat too much.
