Just an FYI if you're just getting this for the "free" tablet. The tablet is a Galaxy A7 lite which only costs $200 ($129 on Amazon)

They will still lock you to a 2 year EIP even if it's free (They'll make a monthly credit to cover the tablet EIP)

Meaning you'd end up paying $10 for 2 years ($240) for a $129 tablet.

So if you're only doing it for the tablet then it's not worth it

Not on the "free" tablet, lol. In all seriousness, don't choose the plan with TE in the title as that one is tax exclusive (you have 2 choices)

soc code ZB10HSTI is the one you want.

For those who are having trouble getting HD pass added, you need to be on TI plan. I currently have the $10 business tablet TE plan. I've been trying to get HD Pass added for a few days now though business care on the phone and they've been giving me the run around, one told me they'll check and get back to me in 24hrs never heard back. Finally got an answer from T-Force, no luck for those on TE plan it only sticks on TI plan.

iPad cannot directly text no matter what SIM

Yep, no native SMS/MMS on iPad, iMessage can be registered with an email address if the iPad is your only Apple device. If you have an iPhone linked with the same iCloud/Apple ID account, then you can text from your phone number (SMS/MMS/iMessage) from the iPad.

There was one instance about 6 years ago that something weird happened for me. Verizon used to offer on-demand data passes for iPads (much like T-Mobile still does and AT&T just got out of the business of) and somehow there were service-related texts that came through to the Messages app (not relayed from a phone). I never figured out how they did it and Verizon eventually got out of the prepaid on-demand data pass business.

I'm curious for those who got the tablet. I got a $30 charge for just starting this plan. Did anyone else get this charge? It wasn't clear to me if there was a $30 fee because I signed up for the "free" tablet?

Yeah I got like $20 SIM Setup fee and like $18 for Sales Tax for iPad, so I had to pay like $38-ish at time of setup. Because it was online it was $20, in-store and during call it is like $30. I heard some people like ask and can get that waived or like to be given back in credits for future bill. Like they won't return you money back but give you $30 back in T-Mobile Credits for your next bills.

I just got two SIMs on two line fees ($21.90 per line) refunded by calling Tmo Business.

Still trying to get HD pass added, though.

I did it in store. No activation or sim fees. I only paid tax out the door.

I bit the bullet, called in and signed up with my EIN on Friday and just got the SIM card delivered today. I see that I can go in, order another $10 tablet line myself and also use one of the spare SIM cards I have on hand to save the $20 for that. I don't have a real use for the one tablet line I have now but this is such a good deal that I feel I should add another line while the promotion is still running!

So, I put the TI plan sim card on to Tmobile HS1 hotspot and the account showed that I use Hotspot device with the correct IMEI, however since I already hacked HS1 device, the data show I use Generic Data not Hotspot Data.

Not sure if I should use it that way, or use 10Gb Hotspot data first then use the Hotspot device later. ^.^

That's exactly what I want it for. I travel a lot for work. Works fine for my needs. I hate the thought of tethering from my phone or off the TMOHS1. Phone or hotspot goes dead and no tethering! Forget to charge phone and no tethering or use a Verizon or Inseego MiFi and you'll need to make sure it works on T-Mobile. Too much work for me. I simply inserted the sim into this router and i'm ready to go. My van has 120v to power the router.

I tried a TMOSH1 on speed test and got results of 6mb/s down and 7mb/s up.At the same location, only a minute later, I tried the router I got. The router got 17mb/s down and 5mb/s up.
Like I said, this should increase when I enter an area where T-Mobile is more dominant..
Which router are you using?

I played with the same hacked hotspot but decided to bite the bullet, spend $16 and get a Franklin T9 off eBay to address the IMEI issue.

hacklovemaster is referring to the T-Mobile TMOHS1 free hotspot that T-Mobile sends out for the Test Drive [t-mobile.com]. Instructions in this post will mod the hotspot such that data use comes out of the regular data bucket and not the more limited hotspot bucket, whether using the SIM from this tablet plan or a regular phone plan.

There's a $30 Assistance Fee for setting up a new line either in store or over the phone. I set up 2 of these TI lines ($30 x 2 = $60), but I was able to have a $60 credit added to my account, so all's good.

Are you on TI or TE? Look at post #1610 above... someone was saying only TI can get the free HD Pass added.

I'm on TI. They couldn't add the pass using the SOC code, so they added the add-on to my account and will manually credit it back to me each month. Not perfect, but works.
