[YMMV] Complimentary Uber One extended by 6 months for those who were wrongly charged early last time.

Like me, last year some of you might've taken up the 6-Months Uber Eats Pass Membership Trial via Hulu. This was supposed to last 6 months, but Uber prematurely charged $9.99 at the end of 5 months; i.e. a month early. I had contacted Uber_Support via twitter and made them refund the cost. They also cancelled my Uber Eats Pass (now called Uber One) membership; which was technically supposed to last another month. Anyway, that was 2 weeks ago.

Now, to make up for the mix up, Uber is refunding the charge (to those who haven't already reached out to them and got it) and adding 6 additional months of Uber One to the affected account. I received the notification in email; but I'm still not seeing it in the Uber or Uber Eats app. The apps are still not showing me as having Uber One membership. Maybe it'll take some time.

EDIT - Got another new mail today (3/18/2022), saying this -

Yeap just got this email. They extended my membership 6 months. Good thing I didn't even notice the charge until now.

I'm in the same boat as you. Canceled due to early charge and got the email, but it seems that those accounts that actually noticed it and canceled will not be getting the 6 months since Uber One is already canceled. Their customer service is an absolute pain to deal with and don't have the most basic understanding of how to help in such situations.

I noticed the charge and cancelled 2 days ago. Since I was already charged for the month, the Uber One membership would continue until the end of the month. I received the email about the early cancellation earlier and about the 6 month extension. I didn't contact customer care or anything so it was automatic.

for those that got the email, do you see the extension of 6 months in the app?
I got the refund but still says March 26, 2022 as my renewal date.

I complained to them about getting charged and losing my free trial... They were happy to refund me but couldnt seem to care less about me losing the trial period... I guess they finally did something. My membership doesnt show as active yet, so might have to complain to support to get it going. Maybe I will wait a bit and see if they fix it themselves...

Same issue. I also canceled within the last 36 hours. Contacted via chat and they said they are sending to their specialized team and i would get an email. They then disconnected.

Former Uber driver here. Customer service is just copy and paste stuff and rarely will result in actual help. If you don't have problems, congrats but for those that have had to attempt the customer service gauntlet, it's almost not worth it for many. Best example is receiving an order from a closed restaurant, the correct way for a driver to report a close restaurant is to phone in customer support. However, because it takes so long, most people don't do it and sometimes customer service doesn't even close it out properly, so even if you did the right thing you still might not get paid the driving fee.

All reports from customer side seem similar to driver's side support

Same as many (most) above. Received the email, but my expiration date still shows end of March. Will subscribe to this thread and update if / when I get the actual 6-month extension.

You have to wait til the end of the current subscription to see the updated end date as stated in the email they sent.

A lot of people get food delivered sometimes because they're NOT lazy and they're doing a million other things. I'm guessing you don't have kids, or anyone to take care of except yourself?
