I have purchased quite a few Smith and Wesson knives as small gifts and trinkets.. They are low quality and this particular one is usually about $11.99 and never has been $32 as suggested. Last time I ordered I purchased 8 knives for less than $40 total and handed them out to co-workers. The knives are sharp but will not hold an edge long, the pivots are very stiff and the lockups are not always sturdy. All said though, they are worth the price they are right now, just not much more.
The steel is comparible to 440a steel. Considered a "low end" steel. Easy to sharpen, good corrosion resistance, but the edge won't hold very well. For boxes maybe your ok. But not long term without sharpening, IMO

PSA: I used to stop by WA surplus. They sell surplus state equipment.
They also had bins of TSA Sea-Tac security confiscated knifes, leatherman and things like that often for $1-3.
I often saw enthusiasts or resellers apparently finding some good stuff.
Might be worth checking out what TSA does in your state with them.
