Price is right. Does it have an IPS screen?

Nice starter laptop, but it is what it is: an inexpensive laptop lagging in specs. Eventually, you'll want to upgrade the memory and SSD. So, at minimum, you'll need to spend @$50 or more to get to 8GB RAM & 256GB SSD.

i am return this model. I think win11 causes this machine to slow down even with 8GB RAM. Pressing the key bad, the CPU level show 99%, why would it takes up so much cpu cycle? It so slow jsut to check email & pg up/down. YOutube video works fine.

If they say IPS, it's IPS, because it is a big selling point and reason to charge more. If they don't say it's IPS, 99.6% chance it is not IPS.

"upgradeable to Windows 11"

Whoever wrote that and I have very different opinions on Windows 11. I certainly would call "upgrade" a misnomer.

I had this notebook at this price a few weeks ago and thought it was pretty good. I didn't keep it because I also got the $150 HP with similar specs and I don't need 2 notebooks.

The HP has a better screen but the Asus is better in every other way. I especially liked the back-lite keyboard, although having it on does impact battery life quite a bit - at least when you look at the remaining battery time estimate.

I tested this model the last time it was on sale at this price, and you'd almost think that it's an IPS because it uses what Asus used to call a virtual IPS. it changes you displays settings depending on what your doing, but it got annoying after a while.

Trying to get my parents a better device then their garbage HP chromebook, they just need it to basically surf, check email, and maybe watch YouTube. Is this good for them?

I'm no expert, but Chromebooks and lower-end laptops just take a second to load but once they (browser) is up and running youtube and email does not take any time to load. Also if they are watching a video they don't need to have a dozen tabs open in the background since that helps with speed and battery life.

Problem is a lot of the programs they want to load, download, and use are not compatible with chromeOS
