for gcs, saying aci is the same thing as saying amazon.com; but you are right, one would have to know that. but since it's been that way for so so so long, i guess we kinda expect most sders to know that. so i understand it maybe surprising to some but it's hardly weird. all amazon gcs and egcs come from the same place so there is no distinction like you might find at best buy for example.

these are all good things; one of the last few places remaining. eventually these loopholes will likely close sadly.
Blah. I just realized something. I am going to have to use the discoover card for the purchase too, right? Because if I select a diff card it won't give the option to use points and if I use a gc for part of the purchase price it won't give the discount, will it? Or would it? Maybe it would still give the discount if paying with gc... Then I could save on one from my 3% cb card or slide.

speaking of best buy, that is what I was thinking of getting via amazon. Trying to decide still because I always have too many bb gcs. I can NEVER think of anything to buy from amazon, though. I used to always buy from them and now, other than gcs, haven't bought more than maybe 2 items in the past year and a half.
fortunate for me i have found much use for amazon stuff since it is really convenient with a locker across the street and everything gets charged to 5% amazon card. i buy stuff from amazon when there's no way to avoid the sales tax. for deals like this one, the best and easiest way to get the full % discount is to buy a gcs and for me, there are half a dozen good ones to choose from. apple is ALWAYS a good option to me, can't ever have enough apple $$$. when i see this type of deal, i don't even think....load a gc, make the purchase. i keep an amzn list full of stuff but gcs are the quick and easy goto. as i mentioned, this won't be forever

bby is good when they price match. otherwise, the sales tax plus they are overpriced. maybe i see a double bby cb opportunity or i get a bby discount and i get a chance to redeem a bby b-day coupon....otherwise, nothing bby is useless to me and like you, i have sat on too many bby gcs for too long.

i think you can. as long as you charge $1 to the card and $1 in rewards, the rest can be amzn balance but the balance cannot exceed the total price...which will take some creative work (easy as long as your amzn balance is not so big).

you sure some has to be charged to the card? I thought technically you could pay for the whole thing with rewards points, ie not required to use the card itself. I would normally just pay the entire thing with points, but that is wasting them as it would be no cash back.

I am probably overthinking the whole thing because if I put it all on discover I'd only get $1 less cash back than if i use an amazon gc so probably not worth the trouble of reloading my gc balance for $1 savings.

Reason I may get bb gcs is I need another ps5 so at some point will use them.

sure you can pay it all with rewards points but that's a huge way imho. also, i hate to charge anything to discover because there's no benefit there. much better to pay for something with amzn balance that has been loaded with discounted money. you're amazon balance should only contain credits you earned at 5% or better....likely closer to 15%. meaning, if you have a $100 amazon balance, you probably only paid $85 for itl never more than $95. with this deal, i believe you can pay $1 in rewards and the entire remaining balance with amazon and charge $0 to discover....i think.

that's the problem, though, is it's not 100% certain. I think you can also, but not totally sure, and I don't have my prime active so will only get 3%.

Eh actually I get 5% back at grocery stores so could get it there, but for this low price purchase won't save me a lot.

As an fyi I did just get a $29 amazon gc and sue that and $1 in points to pay the whole $30 for an online best buy gift card. So all told, after discounts and cash back, I paid about $28.50 for a $50 gc.

"Sorry, you're not eligible for this offer right now" Not sure why I still have Discover since they did away with extended warranty benefit & I never qualify for any Amazon deals. 😾

Does not say I am not eligible and shows the $10 off $50 banner, but I get the following message in red when I click the activate button: Your points will be applied at checkout but we were not able to activate the promo code. If you have already activated this code, your discount will be applied at checkout.

And there's no discount at checkout.
