Guadalajara has about one-quarter the homicide rate of Tijuana, and teenagers on Spring Break flock to Tijuana every year.

Would you travel to St. Louis, Baltimore or Detroit? All have higher murder rates than Guadalajara: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lis...icide_rate

"Jalisco New Generation Cartel, known by its Spanish acronym CJNG. The rise of the CJNG over the past decade ties directly to the downward spiral of Guadalajara and the rest of the state into violent disorder. Since December 2018, Jalisco has registered more disappearances than any other Mexican state, accounting for more than 20 percent of all cases in Mexico."

I guess this will turn into a geography lesson.

Jalisco = 30,000 square miles
Guadalajara = 70 square miles

Jalisco also includes Puerto Vallarta, which has a lower crime rate than most large US cities.

20 million US citizens currently travel to Mexico every year; prior to COVID cutting tourism, that number was 40 million. The numbers are in your favor if you're a tourist.

USA 99% only dangerous if you are a drug dealer, in a gang or flash bling. In Mexico, it seems you have to worry about kidnapping and indiscriminate killing in some parts.
