LG OLED 55" A1 new lowest price ever for a brand new one. If you have a Microcenter nearby, this is a steal.

Don't listen to those saying C1 is significantly better, only gamers say that. For all of us that want a beautiful screen for movies, sports, and TV shows...this is just as good as C1.

"The LG A1 OLED is a new entry-level OLED released in 2021. It delivers nearly identical picture quality to the more expensive OLEDs, like the LG C1 OLED, but it's limited to a 60Hz refresh rate, lacks HDMI 2.1, and doesn't support variable refresh rate technology (VRR). Like all OLEDs, it looks amazing in a dark room, with nearly perfect contrast and perfect black uniformity. It comes with the same updated Magic Remote as the C1, and the smart interface is just as smooth, running the latest version of webOS."

It is extremely similar from my personal experience and side by side.

I suppose for regular tv and movies but not for gaming.

I'm looking to grab two 55in A1 models for guest bedrooms but only if I can get them for a really slick price. The picture quality even on the A1 is amazing as it is an OLED but I would not use it as my main or only TV. Especially since I'm a gamer.

$899 seems to be the cheapest price so far but I have the luxury of being able to wait. I want to grab these for in the 7s or even lower if possible. HEHEHE That way this TV would be worth it to me.

When I was researching these, due to an SD, there was something they didn't like about the C1, not sure what it was though.

Nice to see a 55" drop finally.

Hope this rolls down to their open box and refurbs. Could make for a nice deal on those, finally. 55" has always been too high vs. 65" imho.

Not really. The c1 is brighter and if you have any light coming into your room the a1 might look dull.

OLEDs sound nice, but honestly if I watch my TV 95+% of the time in a lit room, would the advantage of an OLED over an LCD diminish?

If you don't intend to game ever, the A1 is going to be fine for most people. Even a 60 Hz OLED has ridiculously fast refresh time and the frame matching with Cinema Screen mode on (which is frame matching, not interpolation, its different than the "Cinematic Motion " setting under Trumotion, which is interpolation) handles 24p without a problem. Difference in SDR brightness with C1 is not really noticeable in my experience (and not many people put OLED brightness at 100 for SDR content anyway, so just turn up the A1 a little higher on SDR than the C1 if you can tell a difference). You can notice a slight difference on highlights on HDR. They don't pop as bright.

There are a few A1s out there floating around with EVO panels much like there are a bunch of C1s with it out there. I checked a 77" A1 service menu and confirmed it. Of course, there are some reports that all 2021 77" size shipped with Evo panels regardless of model so it may just be because of that.

I'm sure that if the A1 was placed in a very bright room...maybe a room with open east or west facing windows...the difference between it and the C1 would be tangible, but in a normally lit room, I don't think so. I have my A1 wall mounted in my living room, directly next to two north facing windows. While the blinds are normally closed on sunny days, when we do open them we see zero dullness.

Of course every person's experience will be different. My experience is that our A1 is bright enough to set off our indoor camera's motion sensors from time to time, even during the day. We paid $900 for our A1 as a Best Buy open box unit, and it's worth every penny (and more).

Well, I upgraded from an older oled that had similar level of brightness than the a1 and I notice the difference in pop especially during the day. I mean if you're saving a lot of money ok. But for $200 id get the c1 also you can go to Costco and compare them side by side which I did at some point. It is noticeable now is that worth the price difference up to you
