Dear My Best Buy® member,
Thank you for being a part of My Best Buy. We would like to inform you of the updated Terms and Conditions, including changes to the dispute resolution terms, coming to the My Best Buy program on May 3, 2022 (View updated My Best Buy program Terms here).
In an effort to simplify the program, we will be consolidating the Elite Plus, Elite and My Best Buy tiers into a single tier. On May 3, 2022, My Best Buy members in the Elite and Elite Plus tier will be moved into the standard My Best Buy program*.
We are also updating how points are displayed within the program. My Best Buy members will earn 1% back in rewards on qualifying purchases (0.5 points for every $1 spent) at Best Buy® and Participating Properties.
As a My Best Buy Credit Cardmember, you will earn 5% back* in rewards on qualifying net purchases (2.5 points for every $1 spent) at Best Buy and Participating Properties made with your Card when selecting standard credit. In addition, you will have the exclusive benefit of banking* your points until you're ready to issue a My Best Buy reward certificate. If your preferences are currently set to points-banking, we'll keep the preferences saved for you if your Card account remains open.

The worst part is the return policy is dropping from 45 days to 14 days as a result of the changes.

Same day/Priority shipping (Moderate)
Extended return period (Significant)
Anything else that I can't think of?
Is it due to extended return and people simply above it by returning it at end of 50-60 days period with elite plus for eg, and also possibly getting price match within the return window? So they want to limit it to 14 days for all so most of the return and price match costs were saved for BB?
Big load of BS they are giving right there.

And boy prime is up to $139? I remember when it was around $99 and I feel that wasn't super long ago. Is this that inflation they've been talking about.
And Prime offers things like unlimited photo storage, prime video streaming and prime music that TotalTech doesn't either.
Agreed that value depends on your perspective (case in point, I joined TotalTech for a year because it more than paid for itself with the discount I was getting on the extended warranties on the appliance package I bought), but for the average consumer that isn't min/maxing the perks, TotalTech doesn't stack up.
But yeah I'm pessimistic about public uproar turning this decision around. Best we can hope for is they let us run out the year. Though I wonder if they will bring it back after they see sales take a nose dive when consumers like many of us here that might have used Elite Plus membership as a tie breaker (or even put a finger on the scale) between Best Buy and somewhere else end up stopping that practice.

I threw a few purchases at BB late last year (instead of Amazon) to push me past the $3500 for Elite Plus, and I was usually motivated to the the Rewards. But now? Nah BB.. no reason to shop with you.

Usually the extra $100 I could get earn rewards would steer me to BB for major purchases. But not any more.

The only cost was the fees for the prepaid cards.
About the only time I ever shop at Best Buy anymore is during a sale that I can stack with a price match or when they give me one of those twice a year freebie certificates.
