First post but just got this in my inbox, thought other would want to know about it:

Dear My Best Buy® member,

Thank you for being a part of My Best Buy. We would like to inform you of the updated Terms and Conditions, including changes to the dispute resolution terms, coming to the My Best Buy program on May 3, 2022 (View updated My Best Buy program Terms here).

In an effort to simplify the program, we will be consolidating the Elite Plus, Elite and My Best Buy tiers into a single tier. On May 3, 2022, My Best Buy members in the Elite and Elite Plus tier will be moved into the standard My Best Buy program*.

We are also updating how points are displayed within the program. My Best Buy members will earn 1% back in rewards on qualifying purchases (0.5 points for every $1 spent) at Best Buy® and Participating Properties.

As a My Best Buy Credit Cardmember, you will earn 5% back* in rewards on qualifying net purchases (2.5 points for every $1 spent) at Best Buy and Participating Properties made with your Card when selecting standard credit. In addition, you will have the exclusive benefit of banking* your points until you're ready to issue a My Best Buy reward certificate. If your preferences are currently set to points-banking, we'll keep the preferences saved for you if your Card account remains open.

What? I placed 151 orders with Amazon in 2020, 120 in 2021, and 59 so far in 2022. I haven't received a single broken item and most things arrive in 1-2 days.

Are you a paid Prime member? Because I am not nor will I ever be. It's a waste of money for me since Amazon is almost never the lowest price. Any items that I could order from them I could either get in whatever store they're price matching or price match in store if it's an online only price at that chain. The only difficulty there would be Walmart since they only match their own site now.

And did you actually register for an account here JUST to respond to my post?Big Grin

Best Buy should honor the shipping benefits through the end of the year. Many of us spent in order to be Elite and Elite Plus.

I've never had anything broken, but I've had cases (CDs, Blu-rays) smashed because Amazon ships them in bubble mailers. I usually request replacements from Amazon for such shipments. Most of the time Best Buy ships in a cardboard box.

I've been shopping at Best Buy since they opened first store here in 1998. I'm glad I found this thread. I was wondering what happened to my elite status. It was nowhere on the site and it said I was just a member. No elite badge. I was pretty pissed and planned on calling them later today. I was trying to get to elite plus status (only $690 away) and was planning on buying a refrigerator today. When it said I had 0 points and 14 day returns and no mention of my elite status, I was HOT to say the least. Now I am significantly disappointed. No reason to risk a hard pull for my BB credit card credit line increase. I will be sock drawering this card and taking my business elsewhere - bringing it out only when Citi has those 18 month 0% interest outside of BB. Doubt I will care about points here anymore. Taking the brunt of my electronics business elsewhere and that's a fact, Jack! Should've seen this coming... I will surely miss longer store returns, free shipping, large discounts due to rewards with my BB card, and those elite early specials. Mostly, I'll miss feeling like a valued BB club member instead of simply a run-of-a-muck schmuck outta luck on a tuk tuk. Now on to seeing if Amazon delivers fridges...

The thing is most retailers give you 30 days minimum WITHOUT having to spend a lot of money to get that privilege. Places like Home Depot, where you can get appliances and other stuff Walmart and Target don't carry, give you 90 days on most items.

I've never understood paying to get a longer return period or (allegedly) faster shipping like with Amazon Prime.

Here's a interesting little exclusion that I just found while searching the Best Buy site to see if they had reinstated the bonus offers for members yet. It's in regards to buying certain products and rewards points.

So apparently if you buy something like an iPhone straight away and don't use the Best Buy credit card you're getting ZERO rewards points for that big purchase unless you used a BB credit card.

I spent $3500+ last year specifically so i could get the longer return period for the 2022 calendar year, that was the terms. this is scummy what BB is doing and i just found this out after having bought 3 items for $1300. will be returning all of them after i use them for 2 weeks then never shop at Best buy again. There will be a class action suit on this eventually, unfortunately it will be the lawyers that get rich, this is clearly illegal. you cant tell a customer spend 3500+ and get plus benefits for the following year then after they spend the 3500 cancel it.
