My 5 year model works just as well, maybe even a little better at picking up dirt, then my brand new J7 model. If you don't care if it just bounces around from wall to wall and just randomly goes into any room then this is the vacuum for you. It's actually not bad if your running it when your not home and don't have anything it can suck up inadvertently. It may not cover every area of your room in one pass, but multiple runs over multiple days it will.

If you think emptying it's bin everyday will get old then maybe don't get this.

I love my much more expensive model because of the no go zones, cleans room by room or I can even define a area, like the dining room table. Then it'll empty itself.

If it weren't for my dog, I'd be happy with my less expensive model running while I'm home. But I don't trust her to not poop and come home to it smeared all over the floors. So I just run it in the rooms that I know are safe from poo while I'm home.

When I went through Amazon offered a $30 coupon bringing it down to that.
