How does a dual fuel generator use more fuel compared to a single fuel generator? I don't follow your logic. None of the specs I see show efficiency improvement of single fuel vs dual fuel.
The point of a dual fuel is flexibility. Gasoline provides much more BTU's vs Propane dollar for dollar. It's just cheaper to use gasoline. However if gas is unavailable and in a pinch, your generator is useless. Having a dual fuel generator is worth the extra expense. Especially if you have a large buried propane tank you can tap into for backup fuel.

Also, none of these generators will power a heat pump or well pump. You'll need a minimum of 9,000 running watts for these, because the surge will cause the line to sag. Also, if your looking to power computer and home theater electronics, you must also consider the THD rating. Many of these lower priced generators have high a THD %, adding risk to damaging electronics. Using surge protectors will not prevent THD damage. Inverters typically have low THD, but they are more expensive and lower power compared to standard generators.
Decibels are on a logarithmic scale so 10db higher = 2x as loud and 10db less = 1/2 as loud.

Same price at Tractor Supply [tractorsupply.com]
That's the non-dual Fuel version.

The dual fuel version is $350 at Tractor Supply.

For these slightly larger generators I'd recommend against dual fuel. You'll just use it up too fast. Bit more but this is a better generator for the money I think:

You'll just use it up too fast? Can you elaborate on what you mean because I'm not following. Thanks

Propane will last indefinitely and you've generally got a tank connected to the grill. You don't really keep gas around, and it has a shelf life. Dual fuel means you've got the propane to respond to an emergency, and enough elbow room to run to the gas station.
