Sadly, I loved the Makita gold for a low cost bit.
Makita users have been booing them for the bit issues lately. And with the brands of impact drivers going overboard on "MoAr ToRqUe!!!" Sales tactics, it's made the aspect of a quality bit even more important.
Personally, I use Vessel Japan (DO NOT USE the Vessel US 😞 ) but if I need bits fir certain things at a certain size I don't have, I'd go with Makita because the wait it takes to get them shipped from JP wasn't always something I could do if in a rush.
So just a heads up... and if you like Makita, let them know when you have issues with them snapping.

Even their xps line? :o
The XPS weren't as bad as the ImpactX but they weren't as good as the gold. But there could be more to it ...
I was really disappointed when I watched ProjectFarm do his tests, and seen how poorly the Makita Gold did with his tests. It was as if he got a bad (or knock-off) batch of the Makita Gold.
With that said, every bit we can buy on a shelf in the US is just blahhh. And they lack continuity. You can buy a box of t25's from a brand, and go buy the exact same brand/make later, and it's a completely different quality.
So at the end of the day, all brands seem susceptible to failure here. Some more often than others (Dewalt lol). So that's why I spend more to order Vessel from Japan. (I was really bummed when the Vessel US brand came out and sucked. It would've been nice to buy bits and not wait 3 to 5 weeks to get them.)
I'd just like to see Makita step up and say "We dropped the ball on that." And do better. But I fear Makita might be slipping overall. The signs point that way, but time will tell. I really hope they're not going to become a seller of hype like Dewalt has been over the past few years.
You can get a magnetizer/demagnetizer tool and magnetize your driver bits.
