As far as the size, I definitely was looking to get the 16"... but the price of this is just too good to justify moving up to 16".

I'd like to get the 16" but this is too good of a deal to pass up.
OP, I would put 12" and Costco in the title.

In my opinion, two key skills that one must master is rotation and temp management. I assume that both of these would more difficult with the 12. Particularly temperature management since the 16 gives you more room to move the pizza diagonally towards or away from the flame.
I found that I mastered rotation quickly, but I also bought a turning peel (which I highly recommend). Temp management was a bit more tricky, but it comes with time and study/reading/watching online. Definitely worth it, though. My family loves the pizzas I crank out of this thing more than going out (I do make fresh dough as well).
Can't recommend it enough. But I do think life would be is easier with a 16.
But, even with our wood pizza peel this thing was a nightmare to use. The opening is so narrow and so short top to bottom that getting anything into it to turn the pizza is very difficult. You need more of a long spatula than a pizza peel of once it's in the oven. Otherwise you basically need to pull the pizza all the way out on the peel, turn it by hand and then put it back in the oven. This was such a process that it really ruined the experience....and the pizza.
The bigger issue is that we just couldn't get this thing up to a sustainable temperature. We got it to 725, cooked the first pizza (which was a disaster for the reasons above) and then let it run for another 15 minutes to get back up to temp. We could not get it back up past 425 even with a new propane tank and letting it run. I'm fairly certain that just the process of cooking that first pizza and having some toppings melt near the burner caused it to mess up. I just got the feeling it was not going to hold up long term.
I think at this price point, it's worth a roll of the dice for anyone who wants to make a very small pizza from time to time. But, my Weber Summit gets up to 800 degrees and I make pizzas on it all the time with much better results. If you have a good quality grill, you might be better off experimenting with a pizza stone on your grill rather than splurging for this.
We returned ours to Costco and had no issues. We just told them it didn't work as advertised. Given their flexible return policy, and this very low price, it's worth a gamble just in case you like it. But, please, get a ten inch wood pizza peel before trying to make anything on it. Otherwise, you're up a creek.

don't want to tell them about this one for a lot less.
anyways, there's always a learning curve, but so far its awesome.
i used to use a pizza steel, but that takes 45-an hour to preheat. with Ooni, i'm done eating by the time the pizza steel would be ready.
