They have the rudest customer service I've ever experienced with this big of a company. It might not be worth it to save a few tens of dollars if something goes not exactly as planned

Not to threadcrap, but do your price comparison with other websites before going with Priceline. The last time I booked a hotel, it was cheaper to book on another website with no discount code than to use an Express deal and a discount code on Priceline (the hotel name was not shown but I was able to figure it out by the actual hotel photos they had)

Yeah, I agree. You do have to shop around and do your research. It's pretty easy to figure out the Express deals. They typically show you a map and say it will be 1 of these 3 hotels. Use that info plus check the regular price and customer ratings to match it up.

Another thing to keep in mind w/ Express deals is there no refunds. Once you book it you are sort of locked in. Watch out for resort or urban fees. Sometimes it's hard to avoid those, so many add those in nowadays. Do the math to see if it will be a savings.

I just checked 3 hotels just for shits and giggles. All 3 were cheaper directly from the hotel websites.

I don't think people understand how Priceline works. For 80-90% of bookings, their price is the same as everyone else. They specialize in off book discounts and have deals with most brands. Their "express deal" is where money is saved. And most of the time it's absolutely cheaper then you can find anywhere else - sometimes by a lot. If you are a long time customer, you also see much better rates then everyone else on these select hotels.

If you learn the system, or use online tools, you can almost always figure out what hotel you will get with an express deal. It just takes a little homework. It's non refundable. But. Prices are sometimes 50% lower. Using the service had a learning curve, but I book every room using it now.

It has literally been years since I used PL, and I used to use them all the time. Tracking sites like BFT are ghost towns now.

Yeah I just booked a hotel in DC for spring break week. Every single express deal was cheaper than any other website, even those shady no name sites. You can get the express deal by going to map view and zooming in on a single hotel until it's the only result, along with the express deal result.

Agree. Same with hotwire hot rate deals. People posting on here don't understand how to use Priceline or hotwire properly...

Probably a very specific hotel type. It can happen but for the most part PL can be a real good deal. Add 12% off it's really good. Usually people are too picky to use it. I'm not talking about staying at some sketch area, I'm talking they like a very specific hotel line.
