You pay a monthly fee just to access them. That's not free. Here you actually own these games and you only pay once.

FWIW, I've seen comments on Red It that mention an input lag that may be noticable on some of the twitchy games like sonic.

Haven't played this first hand, but may be a report worth looking into before purchase if it's important to you.

Otherwise, it's thanks to OP for bringing this deal to my attention

True, but it's worth noting if you bought the expansion pass only for the free DLC for Animal Crossing or N64 games.

Also worth mentioning the games included with the expansion pass include online. I don't believe this collection includes online.

No offense, but this is the absolute worst type of game to buy a physical copy of. Having all these quick "pick up and play" type games without having to remove/add a cartridge every time is a huge benefit. If I have another game in the likelihood I ever say "let me swap carts so I can play X" is low. It's the type of game you just don't think about, scroll thru and just start playing. Unlike say Zelda where you leave it in the cartridge slot because you're working on it, this game is a "got 10 mins to kill, let's play part of a sega game"
To each their own

I owned this Switch cart and can confirm there is some input lag. How much that matters to someone is depends on their tolerance for accuracy, but it made playing games like Ristar frustating for me. I own the original Genesis and Ristar cartridge. While the game plays fluidly, there is a certain timing involved with moves like grabbing some walls to climb them for secrets, launching at the right time on star swings, pole swings, etc. I could do all of those on my original system, but the input lag in this collection was enough to screw up the careful timing of the original game.

Playing other action games in this collection (Sonic, etc.) also felt a hair too slow to respond.

However, I think the lag is tolerable if you are playing slower games, and certainly the excellent classic RPGs included. Those games don't really require fast reflexes, and for the price you're getting three Phantasy Stars, two Shining Forces, and the Shining in the Darkness dungeon crawler.

I think $12 is a great price for just those RPGs alone. Otherwise the lag makes most of the other games a bonus, though not in their optimal forms.

I was about to pull three trigger, but from my Amazon purchase history, looks like I bought this for the PS3, PS4, and Amazon Fire, but haven't played it or even opened the packages.

All the more reason to own it a fourth time. C'mon, do you want common sense and self control to WIN?

Of course, you're right and physical is almost always vastly superior to digital. nod

Yes, as long as it's clear SNES > Genesis. Cool

The greatest game of all time looks and sounds a lot better on the former.
