not a slick deal post for anything to buy.
For those of you affected by the Equifax data breached back a number of years ago, the FTC settlement is final now that the appellate court has ruled. Back in 2019 we had the option of choosing either the "upto" $125 OR 4 years of free credit monitoring. Remember this thread?
PSA Equifax Breach–Act by October 15, 2019 or Your Claim Will Be Denied
Well, if you chose the $125 option, you were told that amount would vary on the number of people who choose this option. So I chose the OTHER option to get 4 years of monitoring since my info was out there and then some idiot went and opened up a Costco membership and credit card in my name. I EVEN KNOW WHAT THE F*&^ THE IDIOT LOOKS LIKE. Anyhow, I digress.
For those of you who chose the credit monitoring option, you should have gotten an email around Feb 3, letting you know that your settlement entitled you to 4 years of this monitoring and it gives you a code to sign up for this service.
Look for the email from these people in your inbox or spam box.

That's because your name probably doesn't match the attorney's name... Might want to double check!
Plan on buying something nice and shiny with the reps?
No he was in NY.
Once you lock your Experian, create a Lock&Alert account, which is provided by Equifax, the turd itself. From there, you can lock your Equifax credit. Lock&Alert has a mobile app where ID Works doesn't
Transunion is the only one still unlocked because none of the service I have can lock it, but typically the other 2 are the ones that are looked at the most, and serious credit inquiries usually look at all 3 bureaus. The good thing about the above is you can conveniently lock and unlock your credit at will, without having to call them and be on the phone for like an hour.

Money is barely the issue here, this is a huge crime they enabled. I'd like to see the "law" punish this company by zeroing out the stockholders and nationalizing it. How is it okay for these companies to basically accumulate my personal information without my consent, and then hand it out to anyone they choose, and I have no say in the matter? Hopefully hackers will do that same thing to their CEO, board, and any libertarian and politician that enables this "free market" stalking and privatization of our intimate personal details.
Man, I was really confused trying to figure out why his wife would do that to him while insisting she did not file a claim!
150,000,000 people were compromised. 150 MILLION.
It's bad. Many people's data is on the dark web now. Basically anything pertaining to the IoT is not secure. Going forward, none of your data will ever be secure unless you start learning about security protocols and guidelines to follow. We're in the new age of data mining. Data is gold now. Every person has to take a self taught data security 101 course.

I thought I had free credit monitoring since this occurred years ago. It says I've been a member since 2016 with Experian Creditworks Basic: Free.
Now I see that Experian Identityworks is not free and what I have is always free.
I was not able to use my Creditworks account to open the Indentityworks account. They seem to be two different websites with no knowledge of the others accounts.
