are these like the costco golf umbrellas that are very overbuilt for the casual thunderstorm and can withstand high winds?
Also, how much are these usually?

Not sure what the regular price is, but I would classify them as "disposable", they do not hold up to wind at all but for $6 they could keep you dry in a pinch.

they've been at this price for years at my local home depot. i have 5 of them sitting outside on my deck right now.

These are $5 at my local HD. They were $6 recently but dropped back to the $5 they've been for years. These are the best umbrellas to get for heavy southern rains. Anything smaller and you end up soaked. I keep one in my car and one in my office (and multiples at home). Only one has broken so far in years of use and that was because of a child's misuse. These are better and sturdier than music more expensive umbrellas I've used.

Before the recent inflation these were price around $4.97. They are very cheaply made and will not last! This definitely is not a deal of any kind!
