I prefer the granules over the spikes - I've tried to use the spikes but I never really noticed anything. Compared to that the granules (or the liquid fertilizer) shows results. I think the problem with spikes is that it's putting fertilizer in one spot, vs the granules you spread them out so they dissolve and reach roots more efficiently.

But personally if you are adding fertilizer to small plants/shrubs/veggie garden, go for the Alaska fish fertilizer. Yes it stinks and not good for in home use, but that thing works every time and the yield of veggies is amazing!!

Tried and didn't improve the health of my indoor plants. It more or less stayed in spike form for 1-2 months before breaking down.

This spike for container gives hotspot of fertilizer if you pot is small it can give fertilizer burn.
