This is a much faster, but more power hungry and hotter drive. The P31 is a better laptop drive. This is a very good entry level PCIe 4 drive for current generation PCs and the PS5. For PCIe 3 desktops, I'd suggest the Samsung 970 Evo Plus as the quality pick or the Intel 670p as a value alternative.

Units shown in reviews have the sticker on the PCB, so should be able just to stick the think in a heatsink no problem. WD doesn't seem to provide much value with integrated thermal management.
