I spent 45 minutes cleaning out all of the exploded glass, and had to throw out all of the vegetables and everything else that was covered in shards below this exploded Rubbermaid container.
I didn't even put anything in it that could cause an explosion from temperature changes, I took a room temperature container and added some salsa that I didn't want to get spilled, and I ended up with glass everywhere.
I looked this up online and saw it was common. I sent this info to Walmart and they issued a full refund without having to return anything. Walmart doesn't issue refunds like that unless it is a known issue...

That's terrible. But these are plastic though.
I would get this if you want good size storage.

Never had an issue with the glass but was the plastic ones I had one crack all the way through and many others with ugly micro fractures through out

The second scenario is spoilage. Since the containers, like the glass ones, are air tight... any kind of gas expansion can cause them to explode. So, while you put room temperature stuff in the container... as they rot, anaerobic bacteria create gas as a byproduct as they eat your rotting salsa. Typically botulism (like Bo-tox), are major gas makers.
So, while it may be the container... it's less likely than the above two scenarios.
