Not bad:

Display: 17.3" diagonal, FHD (1920 x 1080), IPS, anti-glare, 300 nits, 100% sRGB
RAM upgradeable. Decent quad-core CPU.
Backlit keyboard.

No USB-C.

Comparable to gateway refurb for $50 less but this has NVME, backlit KB, replaceable Ram and large screen that looks on face value to be better. No USB-C with display out and charging is the weak point. Not bad at all.

I like Walmart because their Allstate protection plans are inexpensive. $75 for 3 years.

Accidental coverage isn't offered for this refurbished item. But it is offered on the same model that is sold as *new*. I may wait for the price on the new one to drop so I can have that extra protection.

Yup. That pretty much sums the differences. I got my gateway today and no issues out of the box. I've had good luck with WMT refurbs so far.

I wonder where these units come from. Why are they already selling reburbished units with Windows 11? Isn't this a very recent notebook?

Probably returns. They check to make sure they work, then label them as refurbished since they can't sell them as new anymore.

Good deal if you need a 17" laptop. The only deals that were better were WM's insane laptop clearance deals in the past.

My guess would be perhaps a driver, or two, not compatible with Win11, that had to be updated? BTW, I hate Win11. It cannot even be set up without internet connection = spying out of the box!

Crucial says this laptop's RAM can be maxed out at 64GB. Of course, it will cost you almost as much as the machine itself to do that.

Don't have to use crucial check PCPartpicker for 260-Pin SO-DIMM DDR4 laptop memory.

Looks like this Laptop is using DDR4-2666 MHz RAM (2 x 4 GB) not single 8GB Stick so would have to replace both sticks if want 16GB or more.

I believe these RAMs will fit. Not sure though, can someone confirm?

Probably mint/unopened condition from the holidays, when the recipient saw it was an HP box.
