For those who just need a very small amount of it, dollar tree has a small version ( not pro power). Not sure whether it's same quality or not. I bought a bigger bottle but only used a tiny bit of it.
This seems like regular pricel. I bought this same size bottle at my local walmart (CT) for the same price in store a couple weeks ago. Perhaps amazon's price is just inflated.

Goo Gone is lemon, orange, and petroleum based. Relatively safe. I've never had it mess up any surface other than paper, obviously. 16oz is probably a lifetime supply for most people. Seems the price has gone way up recently too (like everything).

Goof Off has xylene, acetone and several other toxic ingredients. Try to avoid breathing it and definitely first do a test spot on anything important. It might work where Goo Gone failed.

Two very completely different products who's names happen to be similar.

GooGone is great for removing price sticker adhesive, or when you're scraping off the bumper sticker of a politician you voted for but you're now pissed at.

I just picked up a jointer plane from 1920. I'm in for a bottle regardless but I'm curious if this will help remove decades of oxidation and rust without doing too much damage like hurting the squareness or whatever it's called.
Try Flitz International Multi Purpose Metal Polish. I buy old tools and knives. It's good stuff and won't cause any damage if used as directed.

I use a hair dryer. Just don't overheat and use as directed.

Much appreciated. I don't know that I really even want it restored, I just want it usable. Then I look at it, and it needs a new tote so I may as well go all out if I'm going to jerk around and carve out a handle.

Could someone please advise how this compares to Goof Off remover?
Is this better or worse? Thanks.

Anyone still have those $7 Goo Gone 32 fl oz jugs that Amazon sold from May to Sept 2018? I still have 31.99 oz of it left lol. A spray bottle is a must for application and I used small 2 oz pump spray bottles from Dollar Tree (and repurposed sanitizer/perfume/whatever pump bottle) which is still plenty big (and filled extra bottles to give away) while keeping the big bottle in the basement.

Goo Gone seems to work like kerosene/paint thinner/charcoal lighter fluid for the stuff it can dissolve. Maybe I will try it for the next roof patch job (nasty roof tar asphalt on body/shoes/ladder/tools/everywhere) but kerosene is much cheaper.

Isn't this just rubbing alcohol?

Mostly citrus oil and petroleum distilates I think. Works really well and smells decent.

Goo Gone is like the hippy cousin to Goof Off. You Goo Gone is pretty gentle with a lot of orange oil in it, Goof Off uses heavy duty chemicals. Really depends on your application.
