The free updates don't include upgrades.
IOW, when Office 2024 (or whatever) comes out you don't get to upgrade to it. However, you will still receive security, bug, and critical updates to your Office 2021 for the life of the product (thru Oct 13, 2026).

Also, read the ONE COMPUTER part as something that you control. If a computer that you had this Office 2021 on dies, you are fully able to license the same Office 2021 on a new computer, provided you log into your Microsoft account and remove the old computer activation. It's a full retail license that is fully transferrable - as long as it's only on one computer at a time.

Also², If you already have (or have had) a Microsoft account tied to a subscription Microsoft product (Office365/Microsoft365) Microsoft may not allow you to use that account for perpetual products (although this isn't explained when you try to use it). Just create a new, free Microsoft account and activate it that way. You can use the key you receive for any valid email address (regardless of the email address you enter when purchasing the Office 2021 Pro).

I purchased from here in mid April. Last week my installation suddenly restricted my access as unlicensed. I called Microsoft support and they tried to help but unable to saying something to the effect this was MSDN licensed and ultimately I would have to contact the seller. I do not recommend this deal.

I was paying the $7 monthly and kinda forgot about it. I jumped on this (from Softkeyworld) and have the code and everything. Does anyone know if I have to uninstall and reinstall with the codes?

I recommend you, first redeem this license key in your Microsoft account. No need to worry After redeem license key in your Microsoft account . To activate your office, just login to your Microsoft account. That means you can uninstall and install Office for unlimited time but you can activate 1 pc max at a time. So before transferring, uninstall Office from the previous PC and reinstall it.

Yeah, seems it's just BS marketing speak for actually buying a single license copy of the software instead of renting like with Office 365.

(eh, just noticed this thread is a week old with a LOT of other responses. Ah well.)

PS. while I'm sure there are important things I'm missing from the latest Office versions, Office 2010 still works fine for most everything I need. On rare occasions I use one of the web based apps when I need something else.

I have a desktop that I bought a license a while back from ecrater from seller for $10.
They provided me a key for Office 2021 and I activated it. When I check MS word > Account
I see "Activated" just below Office logo. Has been like this for well over 3 months no issues.
Not able to add this key to my MS account though.

I bought the key from urlhasbeenblocked added it to my MS account.
Went to install it ony my Laptop and had a little issue. I was able to apply the license but it would not activated.
Had to close out word and restart then it finally took.
Odd thing is that when I check MS word > Account
I do not see "Activated" just below Office logo like my other license.
The license from urlhasbeenblocked does show in my MS account.
When I open any office app I don't get any licensing errors so I assume everything is licensed properly. Just wondering if you guys see the same and if I should be concerned?

can you transfer the license to a new PC over time? if not, the lifetime license is redundant, considering nowadays PCs only last 3 years tops.

I already have stacked maximum allowable 1yr licenses obtained through previous AND. This posting now makes me wonder if I'll be grandfathered in to a newer, better version if it comes down before my licenses run out.
