The free updates don't include upgrades.
IOW, when Office 2024 (or whatever) comes out you don't get to upgrade to it. However, you will still receive security, bug, and critical updates to your Office 2021 for the life of the product (thru Oct 13, 2026).

Also, read the ONE COMPUTER part as something that you control. If a computer that you had this Office 2021 on dies, you are fully able to license the same Office 2021 on a new computer, provided you log into your Microsoft account and remove the old computer activation. It's a full retail license that is fully transferrable - as long as it's only on one computer at a time.

Also², If you already have (or have had) a Microsoft account tied to a subscription Microsoft product (Office365/Microsoft365) Microsoft may not allow you to use that account for perpetual products (although this isn't explained when you try to use it). Just create a new, free Microsoft account and activate it that way. You can use the key you receive for any valid email address (regardless of the email address you enter when purchasing the Office 2021 Pro).

I purchased from here in mid April. Last week my installation suddenly restricted my access as unlicensed. I called Microsoft support and they tried to help but unable to saying something to the effect this was MSDN licensed and ultimately I would have to contact the seller. I do not recommend this deal.

I bought a Windows 10 license key form a store like this on the same site. It stopped working after a year. This is likely the same thing, and SocialStack won't help you after the person who opened the store closes their account.

Personally I think you only need to buy Office maybe once every 25 years anyways.

It hasn't changed much over 25 years.

Hence, they're asking billing info. Not safe at all.
It appears they use a 3rd party processor for payments & they pass basic buyer info to them. I used PayPal when I bought it months ago. If you don't feel comfortable buying from them, there are other sellers to choose from.

It's really not. 2021 will get updates through 2026, so $10/yr if you paid $50 for it when new.... You can't get O365 near that cheap (disclaimer- single user- you can get vaguely close with discounted family plans split among a bunch of computers)

I wasn't referring specifically to Office - I was generalizing, just like you. In my case, for photography software - photoshop and lightroom it's well worth it.
