Lifetime for THE COMPUTER you install this on. It's non-transferrable. (Updates are apparently included) I'm seeing regular price between $69-99.

The free updates don't include upgrades.
IOW, when Office 2024 (or whatever) comes out you don't get to upgrade to it. However, you will still receive security, bug, and critical updates to your Office 2021 for the life of the product (thru Oct 13, 2026).

Also, read the ONE COMPUTER part as something that you control. If a computer that you had this Office 2021 on dies, you are fully able to license the same Office 2021 on a new computer, provided you log into your Microsoft account and remove the old computer activation. It's a full retail license that is fully transferrable - as long as it's only on one computer at a time.

Also², If you already have (or have had) a Microsoft account tied to a subscription Microsoft product (Office365/Microsoft365) Microsoft may not allow you to use that account for perpetual products (although this isn't explained when you try to use it). Just create a new, free Microsoft account and activate it that way. You can use the key you receive for any valid email address (regardless of the email address you enter when purchasing the Office 2021 Pro).

I purchased from here in mid April. Last week my installation suddenly restricted my access as unlicensed. I called Microsoft support and they tried to help but unable to saying something to the effect this was MSDN licensed and ultimately I would have to contact the seller. I do not recommend this deal.

I've got four of those and they transfer just fine to other computers. Same with my office prof 2019 which said only good for one computer. I'm using it on several for years. Same for my 2013 version. Both purchased for under $20. If you google "ebay office 2021", they start at around $8.

No, it's a license for Office 2021, the lifetime means you can use Office 2021 for as long as you want vs a subscription model. You'll get security updates, but not Office 2023.

Also dependent on some of your hardware. I needed to switch off my motherboards WIFI for troubleshooting once, and it disabled the license for my Office suite. It wouldn't allow me to refresh it with the "new hardware configuration", either.

I have Office 2019 do not need this upgrade as the only difference is Ms Teams integration - a feature I never use.
