Tangentially related. If you enjoy birdwatching, you may enjoy the film: The Big Year [rottentomatoes.com] more than the average viewer.
This is something I would pay more to get the hardcover.
I don't know why this reminded me of a recent situation. My dd was visiting me over spring break and as we drove the remote highway into town she saw a large bird on the telephone pole. She took an ornithology class in college and so she said "wow, that's a big crow up there". As we got closer I said "that's no crow, that's a golden eagle". He was so huge that it looked large even from quite a ways away. She was a bit embarrassed but as she said, it was so far away and Goldens are so uncommon and the crows are very common, especially at 8500 feet in the mountains of Colorado.

Anyway, I probably need this book as I am always seeing birds and asking what they are. Apparently I'm the one who should take an ornithology class. 😂

Also tangently the app Seek is really helpful to identify animals. It links up with inaturalist when you need to crowd source an identification.

Great cast, good movie regardless of birdwatching interest.

I was just going to ask, isn't their an app that identifies birds from your phone camera?
I had a dollar digital credit so I grabbed it anyway for .99c

iBird, BirdNET, Audubon and Song Sleuth are all great apps to help ID birds. I occasionally use the audio to make territorial birds think their area is being invaded. Makes for relaxing drama to see a house wren looking at us all angry and confused.

I'm into bird photography and pretty much most of use use the small paper books and carried in a camera bag. I've never used a app, but I'm sure they are convenient. My personal preference is the National Audubon Society, Field Guide to Birds, North America. THey have other additions for various regions. It's been many years since I've seen a Peterson Guide book. As a side note, I've never seen anyone pull out a tablet/Kindle and try to ID a bird so this ebook offer is no interest to me.
