I bought a Ridgid compressor from DTO last week for $60.00. It was literally thrown in a box sideways (not feet down) with absolutely no padding, styrofoam, peanuts, crumpled up paper or bubble wrap. The outside of the box was all dented and semi-ripped from it being thrown around. I was shocked at the terrible packing. Fortunately there was no damage to it and it works fine. I'll be thinking twice before I order from them again.

It's a handy little miter saw, but I would only order if you have a local store in order to avoid any possible shipping/return headaches.

I'd suggest a manual style/guillotine or straight edge and utility knife for vinyl plank.

I purchased a Ryobi 7 1/4" sliding mitre say that uses their standard 18V battery. Not for precision work, but fine for portable cuts. The only downsides are that 1) the alignment is not perfect - off a degree or 2. 2) its front heavy so you need a stand or flat base and clamps.

But it isnt a hybrid - cant use a cord.
I got both this and the sliding version from them as factory blems, and can confirm neither is for precision work. The sliding one is much more useful though. Expect to spend time trying to get everything square.

I upgraded to a Diablo combination blade and it was kinda a pain to swap out.

Yup. More like DT NOoooo.... laugh out loud

Just don't deal with these guys, they're terrible. Liars, they tried to blame me for the shipping damage.

I couldnt figure out how to get it square. The issue is that there is no adjuster for the slide angle and it is not 90° to the blade surface. The instructions say to adjust the fence angle, but that doesnt fix it. Do you know how to adjust the slide direction to be parallel to the surface of the blade?

Same thing happened with my ridgid drills and batteries. They banged around loose in the box and the box was beat up when it arrived. It was cheap enough and they both seem to work still that I didn't bother trying to send back. But same thing, I'll think twice before ordering because there's a high chance it can get damaged in transit

Is this good for using baseboard cuts? Or window trim projects
How about panelling or wainscotting projects. Appreciate any insights?

If you need something small for occasional DIY work, how can you go wrong for $50? Just don't expect precision and buy it in store to avoid shipping mishaps. Thumbs up OP!

Can this cut 2" x 4"s with the 2"side facing the base? Thinking about getting this for 2 - 4 cuts on a project. Lol. BTW is the an accurate 45° cut possible with some fiddling around? thanks!

I don't think there's a way to adjust the sliders themselves. The best you can do is use the bevel adjustment knob on the rear-right. And if the bevel adjustment isn't square, there's screws on the rear left you can loosen to adjust the bevel alignment.

Loosen the bevel knob, and use a carpenter speed square to square the blade with the platform. Then tighten the bevel kob and hope its at zero. If not, there's a little bit of adjustment that can be made on the indicator. If that's not enough, then you have to adjust the bevel alignment with the screws in the rear-left that i mentioned.

It's just "ok" so long as you don't expect precision out of the box. You'll need to put in time adjusting it to get proper cuts.

You mean cut through 4x basically? Yes and no. Yes, if you can get the blade adjusted perfectly square to the base, and then use a stop block so that you can flip the lumber over (assuming your lumber is perfectly straight throughout and square on the end. Otherwise, the limit is 2x lumber without flipping, due to limitations of a 7 1/4" blade. You need a 10" blade to do 4x (3.5" actual dimension) in a single cut.

Accurate 45 degree cuts are kinda possible if you can get it adjusted properly, but that's questionable on a low end saw like this, and even on mid-level saws lol.

This is good advice. It also applies to any saw you buy. Read the manual and make adjustments to fine tune for accuracy. The time and effort spent will be well worth it. You may have to make further adjustments as time goes by and you'll know just how to do it.

Good 411. Just ordered. For now will redesign to just use straight cuts. Now to find more simple projects to make...
