Was approved for this card @80K signup bonus a couple weeks ago. Some notes:

This is a great card for anyone who travels or plans to soon travel!
Call your local branch and see if they offer 80K signup + first year fee waived. If you do apply in branch, allot at least 30 minutes for this Frown.
If you have a Peloton membership, note that the Preferred will credit you $60 total off fees, but I think only through June, so act quick!
I didn't get my card after a week, despite a 1-2 day delivery promise. I called in, and they said, oh, whoops, we forgot to ship it! (and they then indeed shipped it 2nd day air via UPS).
You'll get the most value from the 80K points BY FAR by transferring them strategically to airline/hotel partners (most often: United and Hyatt). Do some reading across blogs to learn more.
I know when I applied for this card, I did it in the branch and got a $125 grocery credit incentive. Basically every time I shopped at a grocery store I received a credit back until the $125 credit was maxed…. It may be worth it to call a banker & ask if they have that promo as it was only for in branch applications, not online & worth it to a trip to the bank, if you ask me!
I don't think there's been a better offer on the reserve in many years?

Outside of the SUB the CS > CSP used to be a no brainer, but with the higher AF on the CSR, and the improved benefits/earn on CSP it's a tougher choice now.

Today it's $155 more (removing the travel credit from the price difference) for CSR...

SUPER generously if we count the GE/TSA credit as $20 a year that drops it to $135/yr more for CSR.

For the $135 you get:

Priority Pass (still the good one that includes restaurants unlike Amex)

Marginally better travel insurance coverage

"free" roadside assitance (up to 4 calls a year, max $50 per call)

You do get significantly better purchase protection (10k per claim instead of $500- but then I'm buying most expensive stuff with a Citi card for 2 years of extra warranty anyway)

1.5x for your points in the travel portal vs 1.25 for CSP- but this is rarely a worthwhile use of points for most folks compare to transfers.

10x points (vs 5x on CSP) for cash spend in the travel portal or Chase Dining portals- but those again aren't frequently the ideal way to book for most folks anyway.

So as I say, when this was $35-55/yr it was easy... ONE 2 person use of priority pass at an airport restaurant more than covered this- if you get anything out of any other benefit you're golden.

At $135 it's much more marginal for many.

If I currently have Chase Sapphire (not Preferred) and Freedom Unlimited can I still apply for this card and be approved?

But my Sapphire card is neither of those since I don't have any annual fee on it and no where on my card it mentions either Preferred or Reserve.

Do we have any idea when this offer ends? I would like to go to a branch on Saturday and try to get this without the annual fee but I also don't want to miss out on the deal.

I currently have the freedom unlimited card and planning big trip in July. If I wait a little bit to see if it goes back to 100k points would I be eligible since I only have the freedom card?

I guess the one you have is the plain vanilla CSP which has no annual fee and you earn 1% reward points on purchases.

If your last Sapphire bonus was received more than 48 months ago and you have not violated the Chase 5/24 rule, you are eligible again to apply for CSP and get the 80K sign-up bonus. Simply product change your current Sapphire card to any no-fee Freedom card. Once done, you are free to apply again.

80,000 Bonus Points After You Spend $4,000 On Purchases In The First 3 Months From Account Opening: The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months.

Not quite understand your question, but having Freedom Unlimited does not disqualify you of getting the CSP. In addition, approval is based on your creditworthiness, not what types of Chase cards you currently have.

You can redeem your points for cash to your bank account, statement credit to your CSP account, or gift cards. This is Visa Signature card, so the minimum credit line is at least $5,000 once approved.

So are we able to redeem this 80K points for cash or direct deposit to bank instead of gift cards or statement credit?

Also what sort of initial credit limit are you guys getting with this card?

If your last Sapphire bonus was received more than 48 months ago and you have not violated the Chase 5/24 rule, you are eligible again to apply for CSP and get the 80K points sign-up bonus. You can only have one Sapphire card at a time. The best approach for you is as followed.

1. Use up all the other perks of CSR.

2. Call Chase to downgrade your CSR to another no-fee card. Keep in mind you are allowed to have more than one Freedom card. You can retain your points from your CSR to the new no-fee card. You can also request a prorated refund of the annual fee of the CSR. Do not cancel your CSR. Just do a product change. Canceling your CSR may take up to 30 days to clear off the record on Chase system that prohibits you from applying the CSP.

3. Once the downgrade is complete, which usually takes 5 to 7 days, go to a local branch to sign up your CSP and have the $95 annual fee waived for the first year. If you know anyone or family member who has CSP, you can apply through his referral link and he will get 15K points as referral bonus once you are approved. You can only pick either option, not both.

I have the CSR for more than the 48 months, anyone know if i can sign up for this CSP, carry both, and still get the 80k bonus?

That old no-fee Sapphire is still a Sapphire. Downgrade that to a Freedom card and then you can apply for the CSP again for the bonus.

Ok yeah I was talking about what chase cards would disqualify someone. Thank you for answering my question.
