Was approved for this card @80K signup bonus a couple weeks ago. Some notes:

This is a great card for anyone who travels or plans to soon travel!
Call your local branch and see if they offer 80K signup + first year fee waived. If you do apply in branch, allot at least 30 minutes for this Frown.
If you have a Peloton membership, note that the Preferred will credit you $60 total off fees, but I think only through June, so act quick!
I didn't get my card after a week, despite a 1-2 day delivery promise. I called in, and they said, oh, whoops, we forgot to ship it! (and they then indeed shipped it 2nd day air via UPS).
You'll get the most value from the 80K points BY FAR by transferring them strategically to airline/hotel partners (most often: United and Hyatt). Do some reading across blogs to learn more.
I know when I applied for this card, I did it in the branch and got a $125 grocery credit incentive. Basically every time I shopped at a grocery store I received a credit back until the $125 credit was maxed…. It may be worth it to call a banker & ask if they have that promo as it was only for in branch applications, not online & worth it to a trip to the bank, if you ask me!
I don't think there's been a better offer on the reserve in many years?

Outside of the SUB the CS > CSP used to be a no brainer, but with the higher AF on the CSR, and the improved benefits/earn on CSP it's a tougher choice now.

Today it's $155 more (removing the travel credit from the price difference) for CSR...

SUPER generously if we count the GE/TSA credit as $20 a year that drops it to $135/yr more for CSR.

For the $135 you get:

Priority Pass (still the good one that includes restaurants unlike Amex)

Marginally better travel insurance coverage

"free" roadside assitance (up to 4 calls a year, max $50 per call)

You do get significantly better purchase protection (10k per claim instead of $500- but then I'm buying most expensive stuff with a Citi card for 2 years of extra warranty anyway)

1.5x for your points in the travel portal vs 1.25 for CSP- but this is rarely a worthwhile use of points for most folks compare to transfers.

10x points (vs 5x on CSP) for cash spend in the travel portal or Chase Dining portals- but those again aren't frequently the ideal way to book for most folks anyway.

So as I say, when this was $35-55/yr it was easy... ONE 2 person use of priority pass at an airport restaurant more than covered this- if you get anything out of any other benefit you're golden.

At $135 it's much more marginal for many.

As long as we're approved before the June 1 date, we still have time after to make that 4k purchases to get the points right?

Must be at least 48mo since your last Sapphire bonus

If you want to apply online then you'll need to wait 3-4 days after downgrading for the system's backend to allow it -- if you want to apply at a branch then it might take up to 30 days their computers to show you're eligible for Sapphire card again (might be tied to your statement cycle date not sure)

Thanks so much to the OP and others who've contributed to this thread.

Was just approved for a card at a local branch.

As others have mentioned, the 1st year's $95 fee is waived automatically when obtained at a branch. (It's one of if not the 1st things stated in the formal application process as the banker started going through everything on the computer.)

He also says I should receive the physical card (via UPS) in 1-3 days.

Were you able to start using the card instantly after approval ?

Check your old PDF statements to see when you got the bonus -- otherwise check your credit report to see when the card was opened then add 2-3mo depending on how long it took you to get the bonus

You can try applying for it -- I don't think they do the credit check or process the app if you're not eligible for the bonus (search the thread or Google it for other forums to confirm)

I just accepted the 100K offer on my app, already approved (not preapproved). I just had to go and accept it.

Before signing up for the 80k, if you have an account with Chase, make sure to check the app prior to accepting this. You may get this offer too.

Doordash pass is also present. There's also 50% off the first 2 orders that I believe I'll miss out as it expires tomorrow and Doordash requires the card number (it's only letting me add it to Apple Pay, not giving me the numbers).
Where do you see offers in your app?

I would check 3 spots:

1. Scroll all the way down to "Chase Offers". It should be either on top of that or in the bottom.

2. If you have "Credit Journey", there's a tab called "Offers".

3. Go to "Open an account" and click on "Credit cards".

For me, the app has always had the most generous offers. Online it was 80k, while in the branch they offered to waive the first year of annual fee. I went for the 100K via app - the APR was also a bit lower if I recall well.

Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately looks like I only have the 80k, and I can't open it in the branch since I just recently closed my Reserve and it's not out of their system yet.

One last thing: Have you tried Experian and Creditcards.com ? Experian had the 100k for me in the past, even though with a higher APR.

I want to refer my wife, but can't seem to find any referral link? I have the Sapphire Reserve. Can I refer her to get the Sapphire Preferred and get the 15k point referral bonus?

CSR has no referrals -- need CSP to refer to CSP

Literally just on the main page? I've checked and they both show 80k. Should I be refreshing maybe to see different offers?

Shit I just applied online and it says they are determining my eligibility. If they end up approving me after the deadline will I still get the bonus?
