Yes, up to 5 years. Protip- buy 4 years of personal and 1 year family. Activate personal codes fist, then the family code will unlock family for the entire 5 years
Awesome. I'll do even better: add 1 month of family for $9.99 and it'll convert everything. This is cheaper than the price difference for personal and family, but only works if you have less than 5 years when switching ("upgrading").
For those currently on a Family plan and nervous about buying the personal version to extended their subscription, here's what I did:
I had a Microsoft 365 Family subscription shared with 3 other family members, paid through August 21, 2023 prior to my purchases today.
I bought 12 months personal with BitDefender + 12 months personal with AVG + 15 months Family with BitDefender. $149.98 total. ($160 or so with tax)
I applied the code for 12 months of personal first.
During the process, because I already have a current family subscription, it asked if I wanted to stay with Family and add 9 months with the code, or switch to personal and add 12 months.
Based on comments, I took the 12 months extension and conversion to personal.
During this process I turned on recurring billing to get the 1 month bonus.
After this process I checked my subscriptions and it had become a Microsoft 365 Personal subscription, expiring Sept 11, 2024.
I applied the next 1-year personal product key and that extended it to Sept 11, 2025
Finally, I applied the 15 month Family product key.
This converted the subscription back to Microsoft 365 Family without issue and extended the subscription to December 11, 2026.
I know I could have improved this a bit more by buying 3 of the 1 year personal and then just 1 mo of the Family, but that's ok. This is good enough for me.
So if I buy 5 years of personal and then activate all of them.. then wait for a month or two and then buy 1 month family. Will this convert everything to Family? Or should I be safe and buy 4 years of personal and 15months of Family and use that after 3 months?
You can apply the personal subscription to downgrade, stack as much as you want, then convert back to family by adding 1 month of family for $9.99
I have family plan and i use each of the 5 members on the plan. If i convert to personal, then back to family, what happens to the 5 member's accounts?

Don't buy Family. Just use the upgrade option. If u maxed out for 5 years you have to wait 1 month to be able to upgrade that 1 month. You pay $10 and they upgrade your 5 years to Family.
If I have 365 activated under a Best Buy subscription up to July 1, Id have to let the current BB service expire, and then activate these licenses like on July 2 yes? But all my Onedrive files wont get deleted or something in that one day between subs right?

I have the same question wth the only difference being Amazon has my subscription.

I was in the same boat earlier this year. I turned off the auto-renewal for the BB subscription and about a week before expiration, I applied my 365 license I purchased elsewhere.
No OneDrive data was lost and really no changes in experience. The only change was the expiration date.
This might be off topic but anyone know if I can purchase a family plan and get email under a custom domain? Or does this require a business plan?
These deals are for the Office apps and OneDrive cloud storage. It does not include any hosted email plan. That would be a business plan and starts at $4/mo per mailbox.
EDIT: I may be wrong if you are considering Outlook.com. I was assuming something like hosted Exchange.

Can this all be dedicated to one user or is it a strict 1tb per email user?
If I only have 2 users could I do 4tb for one and 1tb for a second?
