Very detailed and well-written post.
Your mistake was buying Samsung. Panasonic is the king of inverter microwaves.
Can't speak of the Samsung but I've had a Panasonic Inverter for over 11 years now and it works like a charm. Very even heating at 50% and the food is never dry\overcooked as long as you learn to estimate the time needed. The only thing I ever need to stir to even the temp out is soup but it is mostly liquid so to be expected....

Panasonic 1.6CuFt Countertop Microwave with Genius Inverter Technology, NN-SN755S

Features:
1-year Warranty
Power 1250W with Inverter Technology
Genius Sensor - 14 Auto Cooking Settings
Stainless Door Design with Black Body and Smoked Glass

I bet it's the same, but they make a special model number for Costco.

I have the one from Costco an it's a good microwave. Shows you how bad inflation is. I bought it a year ago for around $140.

Costco has a standard inverter. Not as good as the best buy with the cyclonic inverter.

I like my Panasonic inverter microwave. It definitely beats the non-inverter units. I bought one with a pop out rotary knob and it has the genius computer. It's fabulous at melting butter, softening ice cream, and reheating leftovers. The genius sensor errs on the side of overcooking but you can program it to cook things less.

I will say though that it doesn't heat super evenly. Just because a microwave has an inverter doesn't mean it will heat evenly. However, the other pluses make it a. winner.

That's a 2.2 cu ft, not 1.6.

Can you turn of the Inverter function for full power? (like for re-heating a bowl of soup or cup of coffee.)

If I just leave it at the default setting of 100% power level it feels like a plain 1200 or so watt microwave. The inverter part really only helps if you want to adjust the power down for longer but more even heating without overheating and drying your food.

Regular microwave does that by just cycling the magnetron on\off at predefined interval. The inverter just scales the output power so it is on all the time at the specified wattage\power you select.

Used costco credit card for extended warranty
I was looking at that one at Costco today. Maybe I'll pick one up.

I recently bought this after my previous Panasonic inverter microwave died after 11+ years. I love it. It works as expected and looks nice. You really can't go back to using normal microwaves after having an inverter one.

Cyclonic inverter in a microwave? Won't the thieves that tear them off your car try to steal these too? Shipments could arrive tampered with.

Go to panasonic.factoryoutlet.com for some great inverter microwave prices. Recently purchased their 1.1 cf Inverter for just over $109 with free shipping. Cuts my cooking time down considerably. Too bad they don't sell TV's.
Thanks for the tip! Repped. The one at our convenience store just broke down (a very cheap white Magic Chef model provided by the frozen food distributor many years ago). Bought a 1.3 genius sensor inverter stainless model for $69. Will see how it holds up to true commercial use between our employees and customers 24/7 😂
