Buy a gallon spray canister and Bifen and you'll save $$$$. An oz of Bifen concentrate will make a gallon. The link below is the first one I saw. You can make 8 gallons for $15 of concentrate. Double check dilution.

7.9% Bifenthrin Concentrate for Insect Control, 8-ounce https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ARKS...MAYQ78RGW7
What this guy said. Use what the pros use. Stop wasting your money on big box shelf items. The products that the pros use Bifen, will rid your insect problems both inside and outside your house.

Insects and arachnids.

Yes (unless you keep bees as a pet or something). The chemical receptors that make this lethal in insects doesn't exist in vertebrates. I was surprised to learn this as the packaging says it's safe even on kitchen surfaces.

Eliminate nearby sources of standing water, such as old tires or anything else that pools water for several days.

Buy a mosquito fogger if it's still a big problem.
It's very toxic to fish and aquatic invertebrates.

High levels of Bifenthrin can also cause tremors and seizures in pets, though it's generally safe if mixed to specification and left to dry before pets go around it.

Lately none of the big company chemicals are working anymore. Be it insecticides, weed killers, pre-emergants, or fertilizer. Has anyone else noticed that. They worked well in the past, like 10 or 15 years ago then slowly just stopped working.
I did notice. I had to drive to NJ to get one that was banned in NY. That one did the trick. But I really can't remember the name.

EDIT: Found the order. It was either Delta Gard or Demand G. Hope that helps.

How long does this last and how often do I need to reapply this? (Just wanted a rough idea like 2-3 months, or over a year?)
I have had one application stop an ant infestation for the whole summer using the barrier method.

I'm def no expert. I encourage you to read the label. Bottle says this chemical is safe to be used where food is prepared. I personally don't trust that because the chemical is also listed as a carcinogen lol! I only use it where I know I won't contact spread it like a kickboard or corners. I use the mist setting (as opposed to stream) so it doesn't splatter.
Hot beverages such as coffee and tea and working late shifts are also labeled as carcinogenic. Take the carcinogen thing with a grain of salt when you hear it.

I started using this a few years ago and swear by it. I see all the comments about making your own, IMO, I wouldn't use enough of it to warrant having 44 gallons of inspect spray. I use about one of these every year or every other year.
(In addition, $8 is cheap and super easy when you spend at least that on a fast food meal right now!)

I highly recommend the battery wand as other people have said. Lowes/Home Depot both had them on sale for $8ish recently. I spray about twice a summer, all around the perimeter. I try to hit windows and any spots the bugs/spiders might hide. It's great stuff.
I do spray a tiny bit of this inside on our second level because sometimes bugs manage to get in our upstairs bathroom. I've never had an issue.
