Ordered this about 4 months ago. Looks new except for the recon stamps on it. Performs well and a great deal at this price.

Is the 40v line worth getting into, when you can get similar stuff under the 18v line? Have plenty of 18v batteries ,but none of 40v
For yard tools, the 40 volt line is almost equivalent to gas powered. The 18 volt yard tools are underpowered in my opinion.

I bought this last time it came up.

I can use the leaf blower inside my house without ear protection. I use it for science experiments with laminar flow, levitating a ball in the air to freak out my children.

The battery (4AH) died on day 91. I asked Direct Tools outlet to replace it under warranty and they redirected me to Ryobi. No word yet what that's going to take.
Dealing with the warranty on Ryobi is a PITA. I had a drill go bad and Ryobi told me I had to bring it into Home Depot for repair. I called Home Depot and they just blew me off. Perhaps it is different with other tools/batteries, but I will never buy another Ryobi due to this crap.

Any thoughts of this one vs. the Makita one that's going for $50? I have Makita 2 and 2amp batteries and none in the Ryobi 40v ecosystem.

This one seems a bit heavier but more powerful.

What do you think?
I am trying to figure out same question, except I have a bunch of 4 Ah 18V batteries already. Which did you go with?

I use the "self service" warranty on Ryobi....buy the same product and return the old one with the new receipt.

I was in the return line at HD and a couple were returning one of these because when they got home and opened it, the battery and charger were absent. I felt so bad imagining their disappointment at Ryobi and their lack of packaging integrity. The clerk only asked if they wanted credit or an exchange. Of course I never thought for a moment of the joy they were about to experience from the enhanced run time bonus. 🤣

This is a pretty good unit if you're going to be using it mostly for quicker/smaller jobs like garage/patio clean off.

If you're planning on doing quarter acre of leaves/rock gardens/etc you might not be as impressed. It won't replace a dedicated electric/gas blower for 'real' jobs, but it sure as heck makes the smaller jobs more enjoyable when you don't have to roll out stupid electrical cables/mess with gas/maintenance/etc.

The brushless one linked in a post earlier is significantly better, maybe even on par with a good electrical one, but only if you have spare batteries, and the extra $100 i guess.
Do you think this would be OK for cleaning pine needles off a roof and out of a driveway? I keep having to pay a guy to clean the needles and leaves off the roof of my parents' cabin a couple times a year so they don't get fined by the fire department and want to just start doing it myself if I can. I already have a ladder so at $80 this thing would pay for itself the first time I used it...

Assuming you are getting on your roof and blowing them off yes. I use it to clean out my roof and gutters twice a year. It's almost as powerful as my Husqvarna backpack blower.

Let's leave the blow drying to hairdryers please.

Kidding. Yes, this could work for that.
